I get so many messages on my Facebook page from clean eaters struggling to eat healthy, resisting cravings and sticking to regular exercising. So I decided to write up 5 tips to keep you going and to embrace clean eating as your lifestyle not as a 3 month diet.
1. WHY
Why am I doing this? You have to know at the start of your journey the reason why you are doing this and how are you going to tackle and overcome all the obstacles ahead. So imagine before you start what you will say to yourself when the going gets tough (I want to be healthy, have more energy, leaner looking body... )
Believe that and you will achieve what you want!
2. Milestones
Don't go into this with “I need to lose 30 kilos” and by week 3 you are disappointed with your progress because you have set yourself far too big a challenge. Break it down into manageable pieces such as in the first month I want to feel my trousers loosen and I want to be able to run 3K without stopping. This is far more achievable and once you do it, you will be feeling great and will want to keep on going.
PS: If you are a runner like me, signing up for a race is an instant motivation!
3. Daily Mantra
This is something I really swear by. My one is simply: I can do this, I can, I really can. You have to find yours and call on it in times when you are mentally or physically exhausted. It works!
4. Recognition and Celebration
Whether it's smashing a new PB in the gym, running your first ever 10k race or sticking to clean for a few weeks, recognise how well you have done, how far you have come and celebrate it. I reward myself with new gym leggings or recently after completing my first marathon ever I bought myself a dehydrator.
5. Scales
Throw them away immediately. Go for inches and body fat results and focus on how healthy & happy you feel instead of numbers.
You have to be patient and trust that improvement and success will come if you keep going - never give up!
Much love,
