Turkey Burgers are an amazing option, however, they could stand a few #happyslimhealthy upgrades to make them even more fantastic.
First up in this recipe you will see no oil, breadcrumbs or egg to hold them together. Instead I use chia seeds. When mixed in with the meat they help hold a burger shape really well, they add fiber, protein and lots of antioxidants too! Win-win!
Next, I add veggies! You can really stuff these babies with any veggies you want (I previously have written about a caprese style burger!) but the mushrooms are really important. When you chop the baby-bella’s into mini squares they blend into the meat fantastically. You have the option to sauté them first or keep raw. They will essentially help you make your package of turkey last longer, create more burgers out of this recipe and keep calories down.
Then, power-pack it with flavor. You can add herbs like basil or cilantro, or stick with my recommendation of spicy cayenne and powerful turmeric.
This recipe is an outline for you and has the opportunity to be mixed and matched really easily to add your favorites.
They are so easy, so yummy and approved by one of my favorite busy girls who sent me her completed picture with two thumbs up! Thanks Mer!
But, don’t take our word for it, try them today!
