It’s getting hot, and it’s starting to get humid. Both aspects of summer weather, which I welcome with, open arms. But what is with this rain? Am I seriously supposed to carry an umbrella instead of sunglasses? Warm, rainy, spring days are a lot harder to dress for than meets the eye. But with more practice, I’m slowly getting the hang of keeping cool, staying dry, and looking good. Here are some of my tips for dressing on a spring rain day.
My green cargo jacket is my savior. This kind of lightweight jacket is great for layering. It doesn’t have to be waterproof but make sure it dries quickly; fabrics like cotton, rayon or polyester will do the trick.
Rain boots are absolutely necessary. Especially when it’s torrential. I have a pair of hunter rain boots, which are pretty much amazing in every possible way. They are incredibly efficient in keep you dry and keep your feet warm (which is very important). If you don’t like rain boots that go up to your knee; short ankle rain boots are becoming popular too. They’re great because they’re functional but also don’t overheat. If it’s especially hot out, but raining, try wearing rain boots with a cute summer dress.
Hats are even better than a hood. Whether it is a wide brimmed fedora, baseball cap or even a beanie; keeping your head covered is the key to keeping warm. Not only are hats super cute, but also they can be very fashionable and keep you dry.

Rain showers always make me think of the most classic thing you can wear when it is absolutely miserable outside. That one thing is, the trench coat. It is classic, elegant, simple, chic, any adjective along those lines, that’s what a trench coat represents. There are so many different styles to make it your own. Girls- it belongs in ALL of our closets. It is a wardrobe staple.
When it’s raining out, accessories that are a must are as follows: An umbrella. I don’t think I need any other explanation. Except there are unlimited types of designs and styles, I like to pick fun, bright colored umbrellas or even ones with interesting designs. It’s better than your basic black, you can show your own style, and you will always know which umbrella is yours.
Another great idea is a waterproof backpack or bag. This is important because the essentials inside your bag will remain dry. I suggest checking out the brand BAGGU tote bags. This brand has created amazingly cute, nylon bags that are easy to carry around and transport. When you open it into a tote, you’d be surprised with how much stuff you can actually fit in there.
